About The Position

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist at IDEXX, you will perform laboratory testing that helps veterinarians diagnose and treat pets. Requirements

  • 3+ years' microscopic experience analyzing Clinical Patient Samples in the areas of Urinalysis, Hematology, or Parasitology.
  • Understanding of cell morphology for the samples in the bench areas.
  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Positive attitude and energy to support colleagues.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Concentration on details and ability to work reliably and precisely.
  • Great sense of team spirit and responsibility.
  • Able to meet the physical requirements: standing and sitting for extended periods of time, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability (close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus).
  • Awareness of potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. (unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Beckman Coulter AU5800 Analyzers.
  • A 2-, 3-, or 4-year degree in a Science-related field.
  • Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT) experience and education.
  • Experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests.
  • Experience operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting and/or clinical diagnostic analyzers).

Responsibilities

  • Use automated analyzers, microscopes, and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment.
  • Perform diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal, or pet biopsy samples.
  • Set up and run lab tests, then read and release results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
