About The Position

Cedar County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) has PRN openings for Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLTs) and Medical Technologists (MTs) to support laboratory services for inpatient, outpatient, and Emergency Department patients. The successful candidate will be responsible for specimen collection, laboratory testing, result reporting, and associated laboratory operations while ensuring the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and patient care.

Requirements

  • Current Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) certification.
  • ASCP or AMT certification required.
  • Current licensure, if applicable.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Self-motivated with a positive, patient-focused, and service-oriented attitude.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hospital or clinical laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient specimens through phlebotomy and other approved specimen collection procedures.
  • Properly label, process, prepare, and transport specimens for in-house testing or referral laboratory testing.
  • Perform laboratory testing and extensive bench work in accordance with established laboratory procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze, interpret, and report laboratory results accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform quality control procedures and maintain documentation as required.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment according to established protocols.
  • Assist in maintaining laboratory compliance with applicable state, federal, and accrediting agency requirements.
  • Enter and verify patient information, test orders, and laboratory results within the electronic medical record (EMR) and other software systems.
  • Perform clerical duties associated with laboratory operations, including scanning, faxing, filing, inventory management, ordering supplies, and processing required documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with providers, nursing staff, patients, and other healthcare personnel regarding laboratory services and results.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety within the laboratory environment.
  • Adhere to all infection prevention, safety, confidentiality, and HIPAA requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with CCMH policies, procedures, and Medicare Conditions of Participation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
