About The Position
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia, is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Laboratory Technician to work full time on the day shift in Microbiology. The role performs laboratory tests, interprets results, and documents and reports results. It also involves maintaining department equipment, instruments, and tools. A sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 is available for qualified candidates. Sentara offers market-competitive compensation, with a stated base pay range of $37.13–$54.39 per hour for full-time employment. Additional compensation may include shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities. Compensation within the range may vary based on qualifications, experience, location, market conditions, and business needs. Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is a 525-bed tertiary care facility and the primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School. It is home to the region’s only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit, as well as Sentara Heart Hospital and Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance. The hospital is an accredited Comprehensive Stroke Center and a Magnet hospital for nursing excellence. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, biology, or chemical science.
- Certification from ASCP, AMT, or AAB.
