About The Position

The Medical Laboratory Scientist performs, interprets, and correlates clinical laboratory tests according to established protocols to assist physicians in diagnosing and treating illness and disease. The role requires complex problem-solving to resolve clinical and instrument problems. The position is based at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Bridgeport, part of Hartford HealthCare.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university, with 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) in biology, including one semester in microbiology, and 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) in chemistry, including one semester in organic chemistry or biochemistry. These courses may be included in or taken in addition to the bachelor’s degree.
ASCP or equivalent categorical/generalist certification within 90 days of employment.
Ability to adopt H3W Leadership behaviors and become a strong H3W ambassador.
Excellent interpersonal and verbal, written, and listening communication skills, along with good leadership abilities.
Ability to comply with OSHA and applicable regulatory requirements by following established procedures.
