About The Position
HSHS St. Anthony's Hospital is hiring a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) for its laboratory team. The position conducts a variety of tests on patient samples—including blood, body fluids, cells, and tissue—to detect the presence or absence of health conditions. This is a full-time position scheduled for 40 hours per week on the evening shift at St. Anthony's Hospital in Effingham, Illinois. The listed pay range is $29.55–$44.32; actual pay depends on relevant experience, skills, training, certifications, and education. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is offered. Candidates must meet one of the listed education pathways: a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including biological science, chemistry, and mathematics coursework, plus successful completion of a NAACLS-accredited MLS or MT program; or MLT certification through ASCP and a bachelor's degree, plus two years of full-time laboratory experience in an accredited lab. Experience in an accredited lab is preferred. Certification by a nationally recognized certifying agency is required, with certification to be received within 180 days of hire. Colleagues hired before January 1, 2020, are exempt from this certification requirement. MLS certification is preferred for the Physician Enterprise.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, including coursework in biological science, chemistry, and mathematics, and successful completion of a NAACLS-accredited Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT) program; OR MLT certification through ASCP, a bachelor's degree, and two years of full-time laboratory experience in an accredited lab.
- Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Technologist, or eligibility for certification by a nationally recognized certifying agency, such as ASCP, NCA, AMT, HEW, or another laboratory certifying agency.
- Required certification must be received within 180 days of hire; colleagues hired before January 1, 2020, are exempt.
- Ability to work the evening shift, 40 hours per week.
