This role performs tests, confirms accuracy of results and reports laboratory findings to the Pathologists and other Clinicians. Essential Responsibilities include preparing specimens for examination, performing complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and/or bacteriological tests according to established laboratory procedures, and using automated equipment and instruments. The role also involves performing and documenting instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting, assisting with inventory management, and evaluating QC and calibration results before reporting patient results. Ensuring accuracy of test results, entering them into the LIS, and reporting critical/urgent results are key. The position requires participation in continuing education, competency assessments, and QA/QI projects. It also involves assisting in the evaluation of new methods, procedures, and instruments, and adhering to safety and infection control policies. Additionally, the role includes answering basic client questions, assisting with staff training, and demonstrating the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
