About The Position
The Medical Laboratory Scientist performs work involving specimen integrity, laboratory operations, professional accountability, test procedures, quality control and documentation, and safety. This PRN role is based at Texas Health Stephenville, a 98-bed full-service hospital serving Erath County and surrounding areas. Shifts and schedules rotate based on department needs. New graduates are welcome.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree for an MLS, or attainment of the degree within 3 months of hire.
- Internship in an approved Medical Technician training program.
- MLS (ASCP), Medical Lab Scientist certification, within 6 months after hire; or MT (ASCP), Medical Technologist certification, within 6 months after hire; or an accepted alternative credential or license within 6 months after hire, including AMT, AAB, HHS, NCA, HEW, CLS-CA, a Florida or New York state license, or Philippine Board of Technical Technology.
- For work in Microbiology, M(ASCP) – Microbiology is required within 6 months after hire.
Nice To Haves
- Two years of experience in a medical laboratory preferred.
- Degree in Medical Technology, Applied Technology, Clinical Lab Science, or a chemical, physical, or biological science preferred.
