About The Position

This position exists to oversee laboratory testing on patient specimens performed at the point of care and to provide information for the diagnosis, treatment or prevention of diseases. Maintains records of performance and utilizes independent judgment to oversee acceptable test results within quality control standards. May act as a key resource person for team members inside and outside of the department. Instructs team members on laboratory point of care procedures and techniques to ensure accurate lab results. Plans, organizes, and directs the daily point of care activities so all applicable regulations are met. This position assumes responsibility for quality control procedures, instrument function checks, inventory, quality assurance, and any maintenance procedures in assigned areas. Responsible for team member training and competency in point of care. Performs all tasks according to standard operating procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology or related sciences.
  • One (1) year of relevant experience.
  • Certification or eligibility for board certification by ASCP; AMT; NCA or equivalent certification.
  • Certification must be obtained within 12 months of employment.
  • Knowledge of various complex and lengthy laboratory techniques and procedures.
  • Knowledge of specialized testing equipment and routine maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to maintain quality control and other records.
  • Ability to use computer to enter and retrieve test results.
  • Analytical skills to make quantitative and qualitative observations.
  • Ability to work independently; handle constant interruptions and concurrent tasks.
  • Knowledge of all laboratory safety regulations and protocols.
