About The Position

The Medical Laboratory Scientist II – Flow Cytometry performs complex laboratory testing and analysis of blood, bone marrow, tissue, and other clinical specimens using flow cytometry methodologies. The position handles specimen processing, instrument operation, quality control, data analysis, and accurate reporting of results to support the diagnosis and monitoring of hematologic, immunologic, and other diseases.

The position works under the supervision and direction of the Flow Cytometry supervisor. It processes, stains, and analyzes routine specimens; maintains instrumentation and reports malfunctions; identifies abnormal or discrepant results; and has limited involvement in student teaching, assisting personnel rotating through the section, and administrative duties.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology.
• Valid ASCP certification.
• Two or more years of experience working in a clinical laboratory.

Responsibilities

• Process, stain, and analyze routine clinical specimens.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation and keep it in good working order.
• Identify instrument malfunctions and notify the supervisor; assist with instrument repair.
• Identify abnormal or discrepant results.
• Perform quality control, data analysis, and accurate reporting of results.
• Participate to a limited extent in student teaching and assist personnel rotating through the section.
• Perform limited administrative duties.
