Medical Laboratory Scientist I - Flow Cytometry
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its Clinical Laboratory Flow Cytometry department in Lewisville, Texas. The position is scheduled Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The role involves performing high-complexity flow cytometry testing, handling and processing specimens, analyzing specimens using approved procedures, reviewing and releasing results, and maintaining required records. The laboratory provides training and career advancement opportunities. The stated pay range is $29.50 or more per hour. Offers depend on factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications where applicable, market conditions, and organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of clinical experience performing high-complexity testing in Flow Cytometry.
- One of the following educational or qualification backgrounds: a BS in Medical Technology; a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology; an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology; or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting, correct encountered problems, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
