Medical Laboratory Scientist I - Flow Cytometry
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its Flow Cytometry department in Lewisville, Texas. The role involves performing high-complexity flow cytometry testing and handling specimens, conducting and reviewing analyses, releasing results, and maintaining records in accordance with laboratory procedures and applicable regulations. The stated schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Pay starts at $29.50 per hour; offers depend on factors including skills, training, experience, education, certifications, and market and organizational considerations. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of clinical experience performing high-complexity testing in Flow Cytometry.
- One of the following education or qualification backgrounds: BS in Medical Technology (preferred); BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology; associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology; or previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting; correct them or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
