Perform test procedures of moderate/high complexity requiring the exercise of independent judgement and responsibility in those specialties in which they are qualified by education, training and experience. This role involves supporting the department in quality control, troubleshooting complex problems, customer support, instrument and equipment maintenance, staff training, process improvement, and completing special projects. The Medical Laboratory Scientist II will perform and report on assigned analytical tests, adhere to analytical schedules, ensure proper handling of reagents, perform and document QC analysis, and make quality control decisions. They are responsible for reporting issues, entering test results into the Laboratory Information System, maintaining laboratory areas and equipment, and completing training checklists. This position may assist supervisors with training, adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety requirements, and use personal protective equipment. They may also answer client questions, participate in inspections, and assume lead responsibilities in the absence of a supervisor. This is a general description of work performed.
