Perform test procedures of moderate/high complexity requiring the exercise of independent judgement and responsibility in those specialties in which they are qualified by education, training and experience. This role involves supporting the department in quality control, troubleshooting complex problems, customer support, instrument and equipment maintenance, staff training, process improvement, and completing special projects. The Medical Laboratory Scientist II will perform and report on assigned analytical tests, adhere to analytical schedules, ensure reagent/test kit integrity, perform and document QC analysis, make quality control decisions, report deviations, enter test results into the Laboratory Information System, maintain laboratory areas and equipment, complete training and competency checklists, and may assist with training other personnel. They must adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements, use personal protective equipment, engineering controls, and work practice controls as directed, and answer client inquiries. Participation in regulatory inspections may be required, and lead responsibilities may be assumed in the absence of a Supervisor if qualified and delegated. Other duties as assigned.
