Medical Laboratory Scientist I
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its laboratory in Woodbury, Minnesota. The role involves processing and analyzing patient specimens, reviewing and releasing test results, maintaining records, and following laboratory procedures and applicable regulatory and safety guidelines. The posted schedule is Monday through Wednesday, 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM, and Thursday and Friday, 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, with rotational weekends. The pay range is $30.00–$42.63 per hour. Salary offers depend on relevant skills, training, experience, education, and applicable certifications, as well as market and organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.
Requirements
- A BS in Medical Technology is preferred; alternatively, a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting; correct encountered problems or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
