Medical Laboratory Scientist I
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its Lenexa, Kansas laboratory. The role involves performing high-complexity clinical laboratory testing, handling and processing specimens, analyzing and reviewing test results, and maintaining required records in accordance with laboratory procedures and applicable regulatory and safety guidelines. The position is scheduled Tuesday through Saturday, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM. The stated pay range begins at $28.00 per hour, with shift differentials potentially applying. The employer notes that salary offers may depend on relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications, market factors, and organizational factors; eligible employees may also receive annual performance bonus compensation.
Requirements
- A BS in Medical Technology is preferred; alternatively, a BS or BA in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting, correct encountered problems, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
