Medical Laboratory Scientist I
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its laboratory in Carmel, Indiana. The role is scheduled Monday through Friday, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, with rotational weekend work. The position involves handling and processing specimens, performing laboratory analyses, reviewing and releasing test results, and maintaining records in accordance with laboratory procedures and applicable guidelines. The employer offers training and a range of employee benefits. Pay starts at $24.52 per hour; eligible employees may receive a shift differential for some or all hours worked on second or third shift. Successful candidates may also be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.
Requirements
- A BS in Medical Technology; or a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology; or an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology; or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or result reporting, correct encountered problems, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
