Medical Laboratory Scientist I
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its Clinical Laboratory – Serology General department in Clifton, New Jersey. The position is scheduled Tuesday through Saturday, 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM. The role performs clinical laboratory testing, handles and processes specimens, reviews and releases test results, and maintains records in accordance with laboratory procedures and applicable standards. The posted pay range is $27.95 to $46.12 per hour. Salary offers depend on relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications where applicable, and market and organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology is preferred; alternatively, a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside the laboratory’s acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or result reporting, correct them, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
