Medical Laboratory Scientist I
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I in Tampa, Florida. The position involves performing laboratory testing and related specimen, result, and record-handling procedures. The schedule is Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The pay range starts at $30.00 per hour. Eligible external candidates may receive a $10,000 sign-on bonus, and relocation assistance will be considered. Salary offers are based on relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications where applicable, and market and organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation. The role offers access to training and a range of employee benefits and programs.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Medical Technology is preferred; alternatively, a bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or result reporting, correct problems encountered, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
