Medical Laboratory Scientist I
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I in Kingsport, Tennessee. The position performs laboratory testing and related specimen handling, processing, result reporting, and record maintenance. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with rotational weekends. Relocation assistance will be considered. The pay range starts at $24.03 per hour; salary offers consider relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications, and market and organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.
Requirements
- A BS in Medical Technology; a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology; an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology; or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- Follow applicable CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
Nice To Haves
- BS in Medical Technology preferred.
- One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing preferred.
- General supervisor license preferred.
Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test result records.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting; correct problems or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
