About The Position
Baystate Health is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist to join our Blood Bank at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Our Blood Bank provides essential diagnostic testing that supports patient care across the organization, working closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver quality care.
Requirements
- Associates degree
- MLT through the ASCP
- Medical Laboratory Technician - American Society for Clinical Pathology
Nice To Haves
- Blood bank experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Performs complex immunohematology testing, including ABO/Rh typing, antibody screening and identification, and compatibility testing.
- Prepares and issues blood products.
- Investigates transfusion reactions.
- Performs specialized testing.
- Provides critical transfusion support to ensure the safe and timely delivery of blood products to patients.
