Medical Laboratory Scientist I
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its laboratory in Watervliet, Michigan. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 8:30 PM, with rotational weekend work. The employee may be eligible for shift differential of 10% for some or all hours worked on second shift and 15% for some or all hours worked on third shift; further details will be provided if an offer is extended. The role performs high-complexity laboratory testing and follows established procedures for specimen processing, analysis, reporting, and recordkeeping.
Requirements
- A BS in Medical Technology is preferred; alternatively, a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or previous qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting, correct problems encountered, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
