Medical Laboratory Scientist I- Core
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its Core laboratory in San Antonio, Texas. The role is scheduled Wednesday through Sunday, 1:00 AM to 9:30 AM. The position involves laboratory specimen processing and analysis, result review and release, recordkeeping, and adherence to laboratory, regulatory, and safety procedures. The stated pay range is $29.00 or more per hour. Employees may be eligible for a shift differential of 10% for some or all second-shift hours and 15% for some or all third-shift hours. Candidates may also be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation. Salary offers consider relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications, and market and organizational factors.
Requirements
- A BS in Medical Technology is preferred; alternatively, a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, result reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
- Maintain records showing proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and applicable safety guidelines.
- Follow laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside established acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or result reporting, correct them, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
