Medical Laboratory Scientist I- Core
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its Core laboratory in Irving, Texas. The position is scheduled Tuesday through Saturday, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM. The role performs clinical laboratory testing and related work, including specimen processing, test analysis, result review and release, and maintaining patient-testing records in accordance with laboratory procedures and applicable guidelines. The listed pay starts at $29.50 per hour. The employee may be eligible for a shift differential of 10% for some or all second-shift hours; further details are provided if an offer is extended. Candidates may also be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation. Quest Diagnostics offers a range of benefits and training, with eligibility depending in part on whether the role is part-time or full-time.
Requirements
- A BS in Medical Technology; or a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology; or an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology; or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- Clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred; one year is listed as preferred.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
- Maintain records showing proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that could adversely affect test performance or result reporting, correct them, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
