About The Position

Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its Core laboratory in Irving, Texas. The role is scheduled Tuesday through Saturday, from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM. The position performs laboratory testing and related specimen processing, result review and release, and recordkeeping in accordance with laboratory procedures and applicable regulatory and safety guidelines. The stated pay range starts at $29.50 per hour. Employees may be eligible for shift differential of 10% for some or all second-shift hours and 15% for some or all third-shift hours; further details are provided if an offer is extended. Compensation depends on factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications, market conditions, and organizational factors. Successful candidates may also be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology is preferred; alternatively, a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities

Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
Review and release test results.
Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside the laboratory’s acceptable performance levels.
Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting, correct them, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
