About The Position

Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I in Irving, Texas. The role involves performing laboratory testing and handling specimens, reviewing and releasing results, and maintaining accurate patient and proficiency-testing records. The position is scheduled Sunday through Thursday, 12:00 AM to 8:30 AM. The listed pay is $29.50 or more per hour; eligible employees may receive a shift differential for some or all hours worked on second or third shift. Candidates may also be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation. Salary offers consider relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications, market factors, and organizational factors.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Medical Technology is preferred; alternatively, a bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
• One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
• Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
• Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
• Review and release test results.
• Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
• Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
• Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting; correct problems or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
