About The Position

Performs diagnostic testing on patient samples according to standardized procedures to aid physicians in diagnosing and monitoring disease. The role includes moderate- to high-complexity and waived testing across all laboratory sections, quality testing and result review, and maintenance of complex analyzers. The position also requires dependable attendance and competency in meeting the age-specific needs of the assigned unit.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, or a related science.
• Documented clinical laboratory science training (internship) focused on Hematology, Chemistry, Microbiology, and Blood banking.
• MLS (ASCP) certification or equivalent (MB, M, H, C, BB, MT). Candidates certified by an agency other than ASCP must obtain MLS (ASCP) or equivalent certification within three years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform moderate- to high-complexity testing and waived testing in all laboratory sections.
• Perform quality testing and assess the acceptability of results to ensure the accuracy of patient results generated by highly complex analyzers.
• Maintain highly complex analyzers according to manufacturer recommendations to ensure optimal analyzer performance.
• Plan and accomplish goals using experience and judgment within standard laboratory practices and procedures.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
• Meet the age-specific needs of the assigned unit.
