Medical Laboratory Scientist I
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I in Kingsport, Tennessee. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with rotational weekends. Relocation assistance will be considered. The role involves performing laboratory testing and handling specimens and test results in accordance with laboratory procedures and applicable regulatory, privacy, and safety guidelines. The stated pay range starts at $24.03 per hour; compensation depends on factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and applicable certifications, as well as market and organizational factors. Eligible candidates may receive annual performance bonus compensation.
Requirements
- Education: BS in Medical Technology preferred; alternatively, a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- One year of clinical experience with high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test result records.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting; correct them or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
