About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its Chemistry / Endocrinology department in Erie, Pennsylvania. The role is scheduled Monday through Friday from 4:00 AM to 12:30 PM, with rotational weekends. The position involves processing and analyzing patient specimens, reviewing and releasing test results, maintaining records, and following laboratory quality, safety, and regulatory procedures. The pay range starts at $23.93 per hour; eligible candidates may also receive annual performance bonus compensation. Requirements
- A BS in Medical Technology is preferred; alternatively, a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting, correct problems encountered, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
