Medical Laboratory Scientist I - Special Chemistry
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its Special Chemistry laboratory in Tampa, Florida. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. Relocation assistance will be considered. The role performs laboratory testing and supports accurate, compliant reporting of patient results. Pay starts at $30.00 per hour, with possible shift differentials for some or all hours worked on second or third shift. Eligible employees may also receive annual performance bonus compensation. The position offers training and opportunities for career advancement.
Requirements
- One of the following education backgrounds: a BS in Medical Technology (preferred); a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology; an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology; or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
Nice To Haves
- One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.
- A BS in Medical Technology is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
- Maintain records demonstrating that proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting; correct problems or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
