Medical Laboratory Scientist I - Special Chemistry
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its Special Chemistry laboratory in Tampa, Florida. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM. Relocation assistance may be considered. Pay starts at $30.00 per hour, with possible shift differential of 10% for some or all second-shift hours and 15% for some or all third-shift hours. Eligible employees may also receive annual performance bonus compensation. The role performs clinical laboratory testing and related specimen, recordkeeping, quality, and safety tasks. The position follows established laboratory procedures and applicable regulatory and safety guidelines, reviews and releases test results, and helps identify and address issues that may affect test performance or reporting.
Requirements
- A BS in Medical Technology; a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology; an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology; or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
- Maintain records demonstrating proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or result reporting, correct encountered problems, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
