Medical Laboratory Scientist I - Chemistry / Endocrinology
About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist I for its Chemistry / Endocrinology department in Erie, Pennsylvania. The role performs laboratory testing and related work, including handling and processing specimens, analyzing samples using approved procedures, reviewing and releasing results, and maintaining required records. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 4:00 AM to 12:30 PM, with rotational weekends. The stated pay range starts at $23.93 per hour; offers depend on factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications, and market and organizational factors. Eligible candidates may receive annual performance bonus compensation.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology preferred; alternatively, a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, an associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or prior qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.
- One year of clinical experience in high-complexity testing is preferred.

Responsibilities
- Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining patient test-result records.
- Maintain records demonstrating proficiency-testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.
- Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures.
- Review and release test results.
- Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
- Follow established laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside acceptable performance levels.
- Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or result reporting, correct problems encountered, or immediately notify the senior technologist or supervisor.
