Medical Lab Assistant II, Full-Time, Baptist Nassau
About The Position
Baptist Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant II for its Laboratory department at Baptist Nassau. This is a full-time, onsite, day-shift position working Monday through Friday. The role supports Anatomic Pathology specimen procedures, including specimens from bronchoscopies, EBUS, and needle aspirates, while also performing outpatient phlebotomy. The position works with the Medical Director and requires strong customer service, attention to detail, and organizational skills. The job is based at the Nassau - Main Building in Fernandina Beach, Florida. Positions designated as requiring a Level II background screening undergo fingerprint-based state and national criminal-history checks as a condition of employment and continued employment.
Requirements
- One to two years of phlebotomy experience.
- Experience working in a health care setting.
- High school diploma.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills.
Nice To Haves
- Associate of Arts or Science degree preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform phlebotomy duties in an outpatient laboratory setting.
- Use the computer system to process laboratory specimens.
- Retrieve specimens from the pneumatic tube system and process them according to specimen type.
- Distribute specimens to different areas of the laboratory.
- Coordinate specimen pickups for referral testing.
- Prepare specimen transfer lists and package specimens for transport in accordance with laboratory policy.
- Assist with Anatomic Pathology specimen procedures, including bronchoscopies, EBUS, and needle aspirates.
