About The Position

The Medical Lab Tech II processes and tests all types of laboratory specimens, reviews and reports laboratory results, and performs operational duties, maintenance, and advanced troubleshooting of laboratory instrumentation and equipment. The role also serves as a resource to other laboratory personnel and carries additional advanced clinical and operational responsibilities within the department.

Additional duties may include billing and inventory management; equipment selection, validation, and implementation; document control for standard operating procedures; and training, competency assessment, quality, and performance activities. The position performs related duties as required.

Saint Francis Hospital-Bartlett is a 196-bed full-service hospital in Bartlett, Tennessee, with services including emergency, critical, cardiac, and oncology care, among others.

Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent experience.
• Graduate of an accredited school of medical laboratory technicians or equivalent.
• Meet CLIA criteria for high-complexity testing as defined in 42 CFR 493.1489 (Jan. 24, 2003).
• Two years of experience as a medical laboratory technician.
• Registration with an approved certifying agency such as ASCP, AMT, or equivalent.
• State licensure, as required by law.

Responsibilities

• Act as a resource to other laboratory personnel.
• May perform billing and inventory management.
• May participate in equipment selection, validation, and implementation.

• Support training and competency assessment, quality, and performance activities.
• Perform related duties as required.
