About The Position

The Medical Laboratory Scientist performs routine and complex technical procedures within the laboratory environment while maintaining high quality standards for patient care.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or meet local regulatory (CLIA and State) requirements.
Minimum 0–2 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
A state Medical Technologist license may be required.
ASCP or AMT certification is preferred or required.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Computer proficiency; familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus.
High attention to detail and strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to pass a standardized color vision screen.
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with laboratory information systems.
ASCP or AMT certification.

Responsibilities

Determine whether specimens are acceptable for testing according to established criteria.
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
Assist with specimen processing when needed.
Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
