About The Position
Saint Luke’s North Hospital is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist to join its laboratory team. The laboratory uses advanced instrumentation, including Sysmex XN1000, Stago Compact Max, Atellica, GEM, UN2000, and Echo systems. Laboratory staff have a window view and flexible 12-hour shift scheduling. This is a PRN position with 12-hour shifts from 6:00 to 6:30, on days or nights. The role performs analyses on patient samples, verifies and interprets laboratory results, identifies technical and clinical issues, and supports quality assurance and performance improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Less than one year of laboratory experience.
- ASCP certification; new graduates must pass the certification board exam within nine months of hire.
Responsibilities
- Perform accurate and reliable analyses on a variety of patient samples.
- Recognize technical, instrument, or clinical correlation problems; identify causes and evaluate alternative solutions.
- Confirm and verify laboratory results using in-depth knowledge of techniques, principles, and instruments.
- Correlate and interpret data based on knowledge of physiological conditions that affect test results.
- Establish and monitor quality assurance programs.
- Participate in performance improvement programs.
