About The Position

The Medical Lab Scientist I is responsible for performing lab tests and analyses to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The MLS I performs clinical testing in at least two of the following departments: Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, or Microbiology. Team members working second or third shifts must be competent in all areas mentioned above. The MLS I is responsible for operating laboratory equipment, preparing specimens, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of test results.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory, Chemical, or Biological Science OR Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution that either includes, or is accompanied by, the required coursework in medical laboratory or biological sciences, and laboratory training and/or equivalent experience as defined in 42 CFR §493.1423 for personnel performing high complexity testing.
• Certification as a Medical Lab Scientist or eligible for certification to be obtained within 12 months of date of hire.
