The Medical Group Underwriter Senior determines the acceptability of insurance risks and appropriate premium rates for large, complex renewal and prospective employer groups, following Corporate Underwriting Guidelines and Authority Limits. This hybrid role requires associates to work in an office 1–2 days per week. Alternate locations may be considered for candidates within commuting distance of an office; candidates outside a reasonable commuting distance will not be considered unless an accommodation is granted as required by law. The position is not eligible for current or future visa sponsorship. The role calculates renewal rates using analysis of group experience, industry, location, size, and demographics; proposes rates and terms for prospective groups using other-carrier experience, demographic data, and manual rates; and prepares or supervises annual settlements, ERISA reports, rate projections, and benefit-change calculations. It also coordinates with other departments to ensure account-reporting accuracy and communicates with sales, administration, and claims teams about the rating and administrative effects of benefit and plan changes. This is a non-management, exempt, first-shift position. The stated salary range for candidates working in Connecticut or New York is $84,480–$138,240. Compensation may vary based on factors such as location, experience, education, skills, and business considerations. Elevance Health offers a comprehensive benefits package, subject to eligibility requirements.
