About The Position

Serves as a core faculty member within the Residency Program. Provides educational leadership across Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited residency programs. Brings expertise in curriculum design, educational assessment, program evaluation, and research methodology to a complex, multi-program Graduate Medical Education (GME) environment. Partners with leaders and staff to strengthen educational infrastructure, advance a culture of scholarly inquiry, and ensure that residency training is grounded in evidence-based educational practice and aligned with ACGME Institutional and Program Requirements.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree (PhD or EdD) in Education, Health Professions Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Education Psychology, or a related field
  • Three years' experience

Responsibilities

  • Leads the design, development, and iterative refinement of curricula across residency programs using adult learning principles and competency-based medical education (CBME) frameworks.
  • Collaborates with Program Directors to map education content to ACGME Milestones and Core Competencies, identifying gapes and redundancies.
  • Develops and implements innovative instructional approaches, including simulation, case-based learning, flipped classroom models, and interprofessional education (IPE) activities.
  • Maintains a current repository of curriculum maps, learning objectives, and educational resources for each program.
  • Designs and operationalizes a comprehensive, multi-model program evaluation framework aligned with ACGME requirements for each accredited program.
  • Develops and validates assessment instruments, including direct observation tools, procedure competency checklists, formative and summative evaluations, and faculty evaluation tools.
  • Analyzes evaluation data to identify trends in resident and program perfomance; prepare actionable summary reports for Program Directors, Program Evaluation Committees (PECs), and the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC).
  • Supports programs in preparing Annual Program Evaluation (APE) documentation and action plans for continuous quality improvement.
  • Provides expertise in educational measurement, including psychometric analysis of in-training examination data and milestone assessment validity.
  • Mentors residents and faculty in the design and execution of scholarly projects, including original research, quality improvement (QI) initiatives, case reports, systematic reviews, and educational research.
  • Facilitates structured scholarly activity workshops, research methodology seminars, and writing skills sessions.
  • Supports abstract preparation, manuscript development, and poster/oral presentation coaching for residents and faculty.
  • Coordinates the GME Scholarly Activity Symposium and other forums for disseminating resident and faculty scholarship.
  • Maintains awareness of funding opportunities (e.g., HRSA Teaching Health Center grants, foundation grants) and assists in grant application development.
  • Assesses faculty development needs across programs and designs targeted programming to enhance teaching effectiveness, feedback skills, assessment literacy, and professional development.
  • Delivers faculty development sessions on topics such as direct observation, entrustable professional activities (EPAs), implicits bias in assessment, and coaching models.
  • Supports the onboarding of new faculty and core teaching faculty regarding ACGME requirements and GME educational expectations.
  • Serves as an educational resource to the DIO, GMEC, and program leadership matters pertaining to ACGME accreditation, site visits, and self-study processes.
  • Contributes to the Annual Institutional Review (AIR) and other institutional reporting activities.
  • Particpates in GMEC meetings, PEC meetings, and relevant subcommittees as assigned.
  • Assists in the development and evaluation of new residency and fellowship programs under consideration by the institution.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
