About The Position

MedSpeed is a healthcare logistics company that partners with organizations nationwide to transport medical supplies and specimens. The Medical Driver safely transports lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, X-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials in a company-owned vehicle. The role uses a handheld scanning device to track items, follows operating procedures and service schedules, and represents MedSpeed professionally to clients and the public. Drivers also load and unload vehicles, perform vehicle inspections, keep vehicles clean, and work collaboratively with teammates and clients. Route duties and assignments may vary according to client and business needs, and drivers must be able to perform duties across the routes to which they may be assigned. This is a part-time position scheduled Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM in Charlottesville, Virginia. The posted rate is $17.00 per hour, with an additional $1 per hour offered for weekend work and work from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM. A $300 sign-on bonus is paid after 60 days of employment.

Requirements

Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Must be at least 19 years old and have held an active driver's license for 3 years.
Demonstrated dependability and reliability.
Familiarity working with and adapting to technology.
Demonstrated ability to follow procedures closely.
Ability to determine efficient routing between multiple points.
Ability to pass initial and random drug and alcohol screening.
Ability to drive a non-commercial vehicle throughout a shift on various roads and in varying weather conditions.
Excellent driving history.
Proof of COVID-19 vaccination, depending on location and local mandates.
Ability to regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, lift items off storage racks, walk long distances, and stand for long periods.
Ability to handle varying item weights and physical demands even when pick-up and drop-off responsibilities or routes are inconsistent.
Must complete a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

Safely drive a company-owned vehicle to transport lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, X-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials.
Use a handheld scanning device to accurately track items through the transportation cycle.
Follow operating policies, procedures, and service schedules.
Present a professional image to clients and the public through appearance and interaction.
Load and unload company vehicles using appropriate equipment.
Demonstrate safe and courteous driving behavior.
Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain a clean, neat, and orderly vehicle.
Perform duties across assigned routes, which may vary or change according to client and business needs.
Demonstrate teamwork, cooperation, and adaptability with teammates and clients.
Build and nurture a collaborative MedSpeed team culture.
