About The Position

MedSpeed is a healthcare logistics company that partners with organizations nationwide to transport medical supplies and specimens. The Medical Driver spends most of the workday in a company-owned vehicle, transporting lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, X-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials. The position is part-time in Charlottesville, Virginia, with a Saturday and Sunday schedule from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Drivers use a handheld scanning device to track items through the transportation cycle, follow operating policies and service schedules, load and unload vehicles, and maintain a clean and orderly vehicle. Routes and duties may vary according to client and business needs, and drivers must be able to perform duties across assigned routes. The role also involves professional interaction with clients and the public and collaboration with teammates.

Candidates must meet driving, reliability, technology, and physical requirements. Employment offers are contingent on a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review. COVID-19 vaccination proof may be required depending on location and local mandates.

Requirements

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Be at least 19 years old and have held an active driver's license for 3 years.
• Demonstrated dependability and reliability.
• Familiarity working with and adapting to technology.
• Demonstrated ability to follow procedures closely.
• Ability to determine efficient routing between multiple points.
• Ability to pass initial and random drug and alcohol screening.
• Ability to drive a non-commercial vehicle throughout the shift on various roads and in varying weather conditions.
• Excellent driving history.
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination may be required depending on location and local mandates.
• Ability to regularly lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, lift items off storage racks, and manage varying item weights and physical demands.
• Comfort with walking long distances and standing for long periods.
• Successful completion of a criminal background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle record review as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a company-owned vehicle to transport lab specimens, medical records, pharmaceuticals, X-rays, hospital supplies, interoffice mail, and related materials.
• Use a handheld scanning device to accurately track items through the transportation cycle.
• Follow operating policies, procedures, and service schedules.
• Present a professional image to clients and the public through appearance and interaction.
• Load and unload company vehicles with appropriate equipment.
• Demonstrate safe and courteous driving behavior.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and keep the vehicle clean, neat, and orderly.
• Perform duties across assigned routes as client and business needs require; route assignments may change.
• Demonstrate teamwork, cooperation, and adaptability with teammates and clients.
• Help build and nurture a collaborative MedSpeed team culture.
