About The Position

Paws and Claws Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced veterinarian with leadership aspirations for a unique succession planning opportunity. This role offers a path to become a Medical Director with support and mentorship, starting as an Associate Veterinarian and gradually transitioning into leadership. The hospital is known for high-quality, compassionate care, a supportive team culture, strong client relationships, and practicing progressive medicine. The Medical Director will mentor other DVMs, contribute to medical protocols, and guide hospital growth.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree from an accredited veterinary school
Eligible for or currently holds Michigan veterinary license
Strong interest in small animal medicine and surgery
Commitment to high-quality patient care and client service
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment

Nice To Haves

3–5+ years of small animal clinical experience
Strong foundation in medicine, surgery, and dentistry
Interest in leadership, mentorship, and team development
Desire to build long-term relationships within the hospital and community

Responsibilities

Provide high-quality medical, surgical, and dental care
Build strong relationships with clients and patients
Collaborate closely with the current Medical Director and team
Gradually take on leadership responsibilities, including mentoring and supporting fellow DVMs
Contribute to medical protocols and standards of care
Help guide hospital growth and team development
