Animal Care Technician - Paws Pet Resort
About The Position
Animal Care Technicians provide loving care for pet guests staying and playing at Paws Pet Resort, with a focus on safety, comfort, and cleanliness. The employee-owned and operated company is expanding and offers opportunities for growth. It operates more than 80 locations across 26 states and has been in business for 30 years. The position involves caring for boarding guests, maintaining clean and sanitary facilities, supporting guest check-in and check-out, and monitoring pets' needs and wellbeing. Technicians follow care instructions, including feeding and medication directions, and communicate concerns to management.
Requirements
- Love of animals.
- Professional manner at all times.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds or more.
- Ability to stand and walk for eight hours a day.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work on a computer system.
- Ability to handle dogs on leashes and work around disinfectant and sanitation chemicals, animal dander, and animal excretions.
- Ability to correctly identify animal body language and behavior.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- At least one year of professional animal experience.
Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain pet suites, condos, general boarding areas, and the kitchen.
- Feed and water pet guests, and administer medication according to instructions.
- Monitor and accurately chart each pet guest, including consumption and elimination, and report concerns to management.
- Monitor pet belongings.
- Perform laundry duties.
- Welcome human and pet guests and check pets in and out while providing excellent customer service.
- Escort pets to and from their rooms.
- Follow safe animal-handling procedures and provide individual care to boarding guests.
- Sanitize and disinfect pet suites, condos, and general boarding areas.
- Contribute to maintaining facility cleanliness and communicate with management and other team members.
- Work individually and as part of a team, assist other associates, and perform other duties as needed.
