About The Position

This role is for a Medical Director/Lead Veterinarian who will own the medical standards and quality within their clinic. They will be responsible for setting protocols, making judgment calls, and ensuring a high standard of care. A significant part of the role involves mentoring, coaching, and developing associate veterinarians, fostering their success and growth. The Medical Director will also lead the hiring process for veterinarians within their clinic, building and leading their own team. This is a collaborative leadership role, working in partnership with the Practice Manager who oversees operations and the support team, with joint accountability for the clinic's overall success. The Medical Director is also responsible for setting the clinic's culture, influencing how team members interact, especially during busy periods. This is a working clinical role, requiring the veterinarian to practice medicine, carry cases, and maintain credibility with the team through hands-on involvement. Protected time is allocated for leadership activities, including mentorship, hiring, and case review, ensuring that leadership responsibilities are not an afterthought. Responsibilities

  • Set the medical standard and quality for the clinic.
  • Develop and implement medical protocols.
  • Make critical judgment calls in complex medical situations.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop associate veterinarians.
  • Oversee the hiring of associate veterinarians for the clinic.
  • Partner with the Practice Manager to run the clinic, sharing accountability for overall success.

  • Practice veterinary medicine and carry clinical cases.
