About The Position

A busy dermatology clinic is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented medical biller/coder with a strong background in medical insurance billing. The role involves accurately handling billing and insurance tasks, resolving claims issues, verifying coverage, and maintaining patient records and documentation. The successful candidate will provide professional, patient-focused customer service while working independently and collaboratively with patients, physicians, and staff. At least two years of medical billing experience and a stable employment history demonstrating longevity in previous roles are required. Dermatology experience is preferred but not required.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of medical billing experience.
• Stable employment history with demonstrated longevity in previous positions.
• Experience handling claims denials, appeals, and insurance credentialing processes.
• Proficiency in computer use, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and working knowledge of the Windows platform.
• Proficiency using 10-key systems.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, meet deadlines, and work independently.
• Excellent analytical problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze and resolve billing issues.
• Exceptional patient-focused customer service skills and tactfulness when dealing with patients, physicians, and staff.
• Willingness to learn new systems and processes.
• Professional appearance and demeanor; ability to work collaboratively as a team player.

Responsibilities

• Accurately post charges and insurance payments.
• Manage claim denials, including appealing or refiling claims.
• Draft letters to insurance companies as needed.
• Answer patient phone calls and communicate with insurance companies about claims and issues.
• Verify insurance coverage and obtain procedure pre-certifications.
• Maintain accurate patient records and billing documentation.
