About The Position

Full-time faculty at Central Carolina Community College facilitate transformative lifelong learning by incorporating discipline-specific learning outcomes through active learning opportunities, lectures, hands-on skill development, assignments, appropriate classroom management, etc. Faculty provide authentic student assessment that allows students to improve their knowledge and skills with each assignment. Faculty focus on student success by establishing meaningful connections with students early in the semester to support the varying needs of each student throughout the semester. Salary depends on education and experience. Associate Degree salary range: $43,720 - $51,183 Bachelor's Degree salary range: $46,321 - $54,172 Master’s Degree salary range: $48,629 - $56,282 Doctorate Degree salary range: $51,956 - $59,432 Please include unofficial copies of undergraduate and graduate transcripts. Will be required to submit official copies of transcripts before the start date. This position may have occasional travel between campuses and for training. Occasional after hours may be required. This position requires face to face teaching.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Medical Assisting
  • Two years as a credentialed Medical Assistant
  • Be credentialed in good standing in medical assisting by an organization whose credentialing exam is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), American National Standards Institute (ANSI), or under the International Organization for Standardization (ISO)
  • Current certification with American Heart Association BLS/CPR with AED for Adult and Child

Nice To Haves

  • Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
  • Bachelor’s degree in a medical or allied health field
  • Two years’ experience teaching at a community college or university
  • Documented education in instructional methodology
  • Experience coordinating practicum rotations

Responsibilities

  • Embrace the institutional goals of Central Carolina Community College by engaging students as full partners in the learning process, removing barriers to student progression in courses, and supporting and assisting students in achieving their educational and career goals.
  • Use student learning outcomes to create a variety of activities, assignments, and assessments to ensure curriculum goals are met.
  • Create a dynamic instructional environment that promotes a positive, interactive, and inclusive learning experience for all students.
  • Maintain an online course shell with a syllabus and gradebook in the LMS for each class.
  • Grade all assignments in a timely manner and ensure that all grades are reported within the 10-day college grading policy.
  • Provide personalized and constructive feedback on student assignments by recognizing what students did well and identifying attainable improvements for future work.
  • Respond to all student communication within two business days.
  • Report attendance weekly.
  • Facilitate student learning for instructional loads of 15-18 contact hours per semester.
  • Faculty keep a weekly schedule of 35 hours on campus, including 5 required office hours. Hours on site may be adjusted based on distance education responsibilities and/or approved telework arrangements.
  • Maintain a flexible teaching schedule that includes seated classes in the daytime, evening, and on Saturdays.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.
  • Actively support the college’s vision of being the college of choice for students, workforce partners, community leaders, and employees.
  • Assist the department chair in establishing and maintaining relationships with representatives of the practicum sites where students are placed.
  • Adhere to the policies and requirements of the practicum sites as stipulated in contractual agreements with the college.
  • Schedule appropriate practicum rotations to ensure fair and equal student assignments across all practicum-related activities.
  • Collect, review, and maintain student practicum documents and records.
  • Communicate with students regarding missing or expired documents.
  • Track student practicum hours and verify that practicum hour requirements are met.
  • Coordinate meetings with the practicum sites as needed to discuss any student concerns.
  • Assist in the revision of the practicum handbook as needed to maintain current applicable policies in alignment with college and accreditation guidelines.
  • Meet with each assigned advisee a minimum of once each semester.
  • Provide advisees with information and guidance to achieve their individual educational, career, and life goals.
  • Help students develop educational plans.
  • Coach advisees and refer them to institutional resources when academic or personal problems require intervention.
  • Complete faculty advisor training.
  • Participate in activities required to maintain program and/or college accreditation standards.
  • Serve on college committees as appointed.
  • Attend advisory board meetings as requested by your supervisor.
  • Attend graduation ceremonies.
  • Maintain current knowledge of your discipline and renew industry credentials, as needed.
  • Attend departmental, divisional, and college-wide meetings.
