About The Position

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Medical Assistant Instructor to join our faculty. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical assisting and a dedication to teaching and mentoring students. As a Medical Assistant Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, developing curriculum, and ensuring that students acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the medical field.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4,000 hours of work experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting within the last five years.
  • Ability to utilize PowerPoint, Learning Management System technology to maintain grades and content.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the public.
  • Ability to apply accounting models and mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, to interpret an extensive variety of legal and regulatory documents and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Applicant must be able to verify U.S. employment eligibility.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) credentials.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct both lecture and lab instruction for 15 credit hours per semester and maintain 5 hours of office time per week for student consultation and support
  • Work independently and collaboratively with colleagues to develop innovative curriculum that addresses the needs of our diverse student population.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience in medical assisting, utilizing the most current equipment and technology to enhance instruction in clinical and administrative procedures.
  • Working knowledge and skill of up-to-date medical assisting principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Evaluate student performance in coursework using industry-related standards and expectations to ensure competency and readiness for the workforce.
  • Determine program needs and manage the program budget, including purchasing and cost control, to maintain high-quality educational resources.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry-standard medical equipment and demonstrate its functionality in instructional settings.
  • Engage successfully with students, healthcare professionals, other educators, and the public in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Assist in the recruitment, advisement, placement, and development of cooperative work experience opportunities for students, and conduct follow-up with graduates.
  • Serve as a representative of the department by participating in committees, task forces, and events at the campus, college, and/or state levels.
  • Exhibit excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills, along with a positive and enthusiastic attitude towards teaching and student success
  • Advise students, maintain student files and paperwork, including job sheets, registration, and intent to graduate.
  • Coordinate industry engagement with local employers for advisory committee, internship, and other industry specific needs.
  • Perform all responsibilities and instructional duties in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as CMU Tech/CMU policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the maintenance of appropriate approvals & accreditation, maintain and develop the curriculum in step with industry and state requirements.
  • Promote a positive collegiate atmosphere and develop positive relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
