Requirements

Bachelor's degree in an Allied Health or related field.
Credentialed as a Medical Assistant by NCCA, ANSI, or ISO.
Two (2) years college teaching experience (48+ credits).
Two (2) years professional experience in medical assisting.
Documented education in instructional methodology.
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, including individuals with disabilities.
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
Applicants must be authorized to work full-time in the United States.

Nice To Haves

Experience teaching medical assisting courses in didactic or clinical settings.
Experience with curriculum development, program assessment, accreditation, and continuous quality improvement.
Experience coordinating practicum or externship placements and developing clinical partnerships.
Experience with curriculum development, program assessment and evaluation.
Experience supervising faculty or staff.
Experience using instructional technology, simulation, electronic health records, or online learning platforms.
Experience using technology to enhance the learning environment, e.g., Blackboard, online instruction or other modalities/software.

Responsibilities

Prepare and teach college-approved courses in accordance with approved course descriptions and class schedules, including developing syllabi and reading lists and keeping each course taught complete and up to date.
Respond to and work with multiple constituencies, including students, peers (faculty and staff), and external agencies (business, community, educational, etc.).
Perform divisional departmental responsibilities in the selection of texts and related teaching resources.
Teach thirty (30) credit hours per academic year and deliver a range of courses within the assigned discipline.
Evaluate and assess student learning outcomes.
Provide student support, mentoring, and academic advising.
Develop curriculum and periodically review and update instructional materials.
Assist with program reviews and accreditation-related activities.
Plan and execute program-related events.
Attend workshops, trainings, and/or professional conferences to maintain currency in the field.
Recruit, advise, and retain students in designated program areas.
Select appropriate part-time instructors.
Schedule program courses.
Hire and evaluate faculty.
Establish and cultivate partnerships with local organizations and employers.
Arrange and supervise student internships.
Assess, evaluate, and continuously improve the program.
Perform other duties as appropriately assigned to a Program Coordinator, in accordance with contract hours and the collective bargaining agreement.
Utilize release time, as specified in the collective bargaining agreement, to perform required administrative functions.
Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies.
Service on assigned committees and task forces.
Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational, and professional meetings, which may occur during evenings and weekends.
