About The Position

Join Cleveland Clinic’s Lorain Family Health & Surgery Center, a patient-friendly facility offering primary care, advanced outpatient surgery and a wide array of specialties. The Family Medicine team cares for patients as whole persons, regardless of age or sex, building ongoing, personal relationships with patients to support the best possible health outcomes. The role assists with patient screenings and treatments, monitors and communicates changes in patient condition, maintains equipment and clinical spaces, and performs administrative duties. This is a part-time position working three eight-hour shifts per week, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.; late-night and weekend rotations may be included.

Requirements

• Graduate from an approved medical assisting program, or have military training as a hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W), or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1).
• Complete a clinical externship or have extensive clinical experience.
• Hold Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or obtain it during the new-hire period.
• Have manual dexterity to operate office equipment.
• Have good visual acuity through normal or corrected vision.
• Be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, and a negligible amount constantly.

Nice To Haves

• Medical Assisting certification.
• Successful completion of a Cleveland Clinic externship.
• Bilingual in Spanish; highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with screenings and treatments by gathering and updating health-maintenance information.
• Identify medication changes and update allergy information.
• Collect specimens, perform tests, and document patient care.
• Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
• Maintain equipment, medical supplies, and examination areas.
• Perform administrative and clerical duties, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.
