About The Position

The Medical Assistant prepares patients for examination and assists clinical providers by obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical and social histories, and chief complaints. The role performs clinical tasks within the scope of the Medical Assistant’s certification and under physician supervision. This is a full-time, on-site position at Virtua Health’s Moorestown location, working first shift for 40 hours per week.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or the Virtua Health Medical Assistant Program.
Current Medical Assistant certification or registration.
BLS certification.
In Delaware, certification is required within one year of hire.

Nice To Haves

0–2 years of similar experience in a medical office is preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients for exams by obtaining and documenting vital signs and chief complaints, and preparing the exam room based on the chief complaint.
Perform phlebotomy and obtain specimens for processing.
Administer vaccines and complete required documentation.
Perform diagnostic tests, such as EKG and pulmonary function tests, as directed and under physician supervision.
Screen and direct patient calls according to established protocols.
Contact patients about prescriptions and testing results as directed and under physician supervision.
Complete and document required daily regulatory testing to ensure clinical equipment is accurate and compliant.
Maintain par levels of clinical supplies at the facility.
Perform assigned front desk duties, which may include patient registration, billing, and appointment scheduling.
