About The Position

Provides basic clinical and clerical support in delivering patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of education. The Medical Assistant receives continued training in all aspects of the role. Provides direct patient care under a provider’s direction, including taking vitals; allergy and medication reconciliation; screenings; patient history; health maintenance; advance directives; and virtual health. Provides indirect patient care, including scheduling, check-in and check-out, referrals, chart preparation, and prior authorizations. Conducts point-of-care testing, including quality control and documentation. Performs administrative duties and covers the front desk based on business needs. Floats to other offices based on business needs.

Requirements

Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program, or active Connecticut CNA, EMT, Paramedic, or Medic certification, or qualifying related experience.
Certified BLS Provider credential from the American Heart Association, obtained within 90 days of hire or job transfer; required credentials must be maintained throughout employment.
At least one year of experience in direct patient care in an acute or ambulatory setting may be considered in lieu of the education requirement.

Nice To Haves

Relevant experience or a Medical Assistant externship in a busy medical office.
EPIC EMR experience.
